Southeast Wyoming brings you to the wide open west. Main cities include Cheyenne, Laramie, and Rawlins.
Cheyenne is the State’s capital, and is known for being the Magic City of the Plains because it’s establishment as a supply depot for the Union Pacific Railroad. It holds the world’s largest outdoor rodeo during Cheyenne Frontier Days “Daddy of ‘em All” that occurs every July. FE Warren Airforce Base is located just west of Cheyenne.
Laramie is known to be the Gem City of the Plains. It is home to the University of Wyoming. Between Cheyenne and Laramie are two great hiking, camping, and recreational areas, Vedauwoo and Curt Gowdy State Park.
Rawlins is a small community with rich history. Back in the day, the Overland Trail, Oregon Trail, Mormon Trail, and the Union Pacific Railroad went through Rawlins. Southeastern Wyoming is rich in a western heritage with modern qualities.
